Back to the basics of Democracy: Returning the mandate to the people
Since the Pakatan Harapan government collapsed more than 2 years ago, the political situation in Malaysia had remained in a state of limbo. Political instability begets government instability, and government instability begets difficulty in governance. Furthermore, with the Covid-19 pandemic creating invisible barriers, it was a Herculean task to ensure the Malaysian economy continues to thrive and protect Malaysians from succumbing to economic pressures.
Since the day Pakatan’s collapse was confirmed, MCA’s stance had remained constant, that an election would be the best move to return the mandate to the people.
Now as Malaysia moves forward into GE15 following the dissolution of Parliament, we hope that the upcoming election will make the last 2 years of political instability a thing of the past. We urge Malaysians to choose wisely with their votes, for a coalition that is stable and effective, and let Malaysia break free from drama and move forward again.
Malaysians gave a chance to the politicians who promise grand things, yet offer no result. Therefore, it is time to vote for those who can bring results, and lead Malaysia out of this political quagmire.
Since Merdeka over 65 years ago, only BN has been able to safeguard the nation’s unique multiracial identity based on principles of tolerance, moderation, freedom, and democracy. In addition to that, BN have proven capable in restoring confidence to investors, and ensuring sustainable development which elevates quality of life for the people.
Regardless whether the states led by Pakatan Harapan will dissolve their state legislative assembly for the upcoming GE, Penang MCA will be fully prepared. I urge all contesting political parties and representatives to campaign ethically and fairly for the people’s mandate.
