Geared at becoming a major agro-producing state, Pahang Budget 2023 plans for food security

The Pahang Budget 2023 as tabled by the state government has achieved its people-centric effect, as it will focus on the wellbeing and welfare of people from all walks of life once it is fully implemented.

The Pahang state administration will allocate close to RM14 million to enhance food security. This includes: promoting agriculture, fisheries and livestock. The state government will provide subsidies, promote agriculture and modern agriculture. I believe this good news for Pahang folks are worth anticipating for.

Pahang is the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia. Blessed with vast tracks of land and abundant natural resources, Pahang definitely has the capital to be a major agriculture-producing state. At the same time, I would like to suggest to the state administration to learn from other countries through the upcoming agricultural research and development centre to improve on agricultural technology; Modern technology such as drones should be leveraged upon to accelerate modern agriculture and increase harvests.

In view of the unstable global situation which has affected food supplies and prices, it would only be prudent that we must plan ahead to fully develop our food security.

Simultaneously, the state government intends to construct 1,000 affordable homes in Pahang in 2023. I hope the state government will expand this plan to Bentong, especially in Bilut, so that more residents will be able to purchase a home and fulfil their long-cherished dream of home ownership.

Additionally, the Pahang state government’s allocation of more than RM48 million to assist youths to develop their prospects, create employment opportunities, upgrade sports amenities, and provide a platform for youth to speak out is most welcomed. This is because youths are the cornerstone of the country’s future. Fortified youths make a fortified nation.

It is also worthwhile to highlight that the state government will allocate RM2billion for flood mitigation measures next year to solve and eradicate the flood woes in a targeted and long-lasting manner. I believe that these aspirations are the same aspirations that Pahang folks are looking forward to.
