Pakatan & PAS states not dissolving state assemblies with GE15: Extra costs will burden the Rakyat

Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PAS Deputy President Dato’ Seri Dr Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man have both respectively announced that states led by their coalitions will not dissolve their state legislative assemblies simultaneously with Parliament. All things considered, their decision will be even more disruptive and burdensome to people’s lives.

The former Election Commission deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad has previously said, holding state polls separate from GE15 may cost taxpayers up to RM350 million extra.

If PH and PAS states are stubborn in not dissolving their respective state legislative assemblies, the EC will have to prepare for at least 6 extra state elections, which not only requires manpower, but also costs a lot of taxpayers’ money. Furthermore, voters who are outstation will need to return for an additional day, directly burdening the people.

Don’t PH leaders always exclaim that the nation is nearing bankruptcy, and the people are poor? Then why would PH stick to such a stubborn and ill-conceived decision? Don’t they know that this sum of money can be used for other projects to benefit the Rakyat?

Anwar keeps talking about dealing with the floods before holding an election, but actually it is because he is not confident of Pakatan’s chances, and thus tries to paint the government in a bad light.
